A member asked:

I have horizontal ridges on both my thumb nail, all my other nails are fine, i chew my skin on my thumbs, is this the cause or am i lacking something?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lacking the...: Sounds like one is lacking the ability to stop chewing on his thumbs. If one stops chewing on the Right thumb, and continues chewing on his Left thumb (as a way to satisfy his compulsion to thumb-chew), and the unchewed Right thumb becomes normal, then he has his answer proven. Otherwise, a dermatologist can help, with an exam.
