May be sciatica: If by muscle and nerve pain you mean pain going down your leg then you may have sciatica from a herniated disc. It is common to have back pain as the disc is failing but not yet herniated. Once the disc herniates, the back pain often resolves but you are left with the symptoms of nerve compression from the herniated fragment and nerve compression. See a spine physiatrist or spine surgeon.
