Don't worry: Bv, or bacterial vaginosis, is not harmful in pregnancy. Bv is a common vaginal infection of bacterial overgrowth and imbalance in the vagina. Daily oral probiotics may help keep things in better balance. Bv also can bounce back and forth between partners - so make sure your partner is treated as well or he can give the infection right back to you.

Difficult problem...: Recurrent or persistent BV is common, often very frustrating. Consistent condom use for a few weeks sometimes helps. (BV is not necessarily an STD, but may be sometimes.) But treating partners doesn't help. Preventive Rx may help, e.g. vaginal metronidazole (MetroGel®, expensive) or boric acid vaginal capsules (cheap). If doc unfamiliar with these, find a gyn with interest in infections. Gd luck!
