Several alternatives: There are many different ways to repair hemorrhoids depending on their location (internal or external) and their severity. For small internal hemorrhoids, placing a rubber band on them may be all that is required. Larger hemorrhoids, especially if they prolapse outside the anus may require removal of the hemorrhoids (which are just large veins) ANS sutures.

Several approaches.: Hemorrhoids are innocent- they are normal structures that aid in fecal continemnce. Constipation, straining at stool, and other things we do cause hemorrhoids to be symptomatic. Not all symptoms need surgery; many people get better with increasing fiber and fluid in their diet. Some office treatments help others. Only about 10% need surgery. There are several surgical techniques for hemorrhoids.
