Vaccinate the cat: Cats and dogs need to be vaccinated for rabies. For a human, she may verify with her doctor that she finished her first set of rabies shots... and if she did not finish them, she should discussed the schedule for finishing up her own rabies shots. If she did finish her set of shots last June (8 months prior to now), she mostly likely is still protected at this time, if her cat looks non-rabid.
