Seek attention : If the pain has been present for a long time and is getting worse it would need to be evaluated. If the pain is minor and does not interfere with any other activities it can be monitored for the next few days. If not better consider evaluation.

Several causes: In young persons, lower thoracic pain could be due to local trauma (bruise), pain associated with a virus (if the child has a fever), pleurisy (inflammation of the lung's lining), bronchitis, pneumonia or some other cause. If the pain continues, or if there is fever, see the doctor.
