A member asked:

If 90% of primary ocular hsv infection is sub clinical, with no issues seen in slit lamp exam, can a viral culture reach a definite conclusion?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: If the infection is recent a viral culture can give you the answer. A viral PCR also can be used. However you have to remember that it depends when and how it is done.
