Yes: I am slightly confused by the question but it sounds like you want to know if such a clinical presentation can be cultured to see if HSV is present. That is certainly possible if the culture is taken prior to any treatment having been given.

If 90% of primary ocular HSV infection is sub clinical, with no issues seen in slit lamp exam, can a viral culture reach a definite conclusion?
Sorry just to check if you did a pooled test swabbing different sites with the same swab. Would a viral culture test be able to distinguish which location the HSV was positive in, if you used the same swab for different sites. Thank you for your help?
