Cyst v Infection: That location is very common for a pilonidal cyst, though an abscess (infection with pus) is also possible. If it's causing so much pain that you can't function, haves fever or notice it getting bigger, go to an ER. However, if it is a pilonidal cyst, it's best managed by a surgeon.
