A member asked:

What is the frequency of recurrence and severity of bilateral ocular hsv in comparison to unilateral ocular hsv? thanks,

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bilateral uncommon: In my experience, bilateral ocular HSV is uncommon and usually implies some degree of immunosuppression. I have seen it in patients with severe eczema. If we accept this to be true, then it follows that recurrences and severity may be more common than with unilateral HSV due to impaired immunity. This has also been my experience.
