A member asked:

Pains in my chest varies from l and r side, 4/10 pain, lasts for about 20 seconds then goes, it happens a few times every couple of days?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Chest pains: Such fleeting chest pains are not usually due to lung or heart disease, but can be caused by pinching or irritability of intercostal nerves or muscles which run between ribs. The discomfort is usually a sharp jab which can be brought on by a deep breath or other motion. Any history of strain from exercise or work? These usually resolve in time, but see your physician if they persist or worsen.
