A member asked:

Can an impacted wisdom tooth in nerve give pain in throat and cause problems swallowing? can it be infected in the root without gum being swollen?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes and yes: See a wisdom tooth specialist, an Oral Surgeon, for differential diagnosis and treatment. Don't wait. If infection is present it will not self-cure. The longer you wait, the more the infection will spread and the more tissues will be adversely affected.
