Multiple reasons: It could be many things, from muscle tension, a problem with your cervical discs ( discs in your neck), or even a neurological problem. I tell most patients to start with simple things like warm compress and otc anti-inflammatory medications. If the problem continues, a trip to your primary md will be worthwhile.
