A member asked:

My toddler has long (maybe 15cm), white worms in his stool. he took albendazole on sunday but the worms are still coming out live. should i be worried?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Right treatment: White worms that grow to 15 cm or more are soil transmitted helminths (parasitic worms). Ascaris live in the intestines and Ascaris eggs are passed out in the feces of infected persons. Ascaris is caused by investing eggs, Toddler eating mud pies or uncleared food with soil still on the food. Symptoms can be light or heavy. Treatment is simple Albendazole dose 400mg PO x 1 dose with food.
