A member asked:

Do pinworms ever go away 100%? or are they in you for life? (using medication)

They die: Most meds act as a toxin to kill them. They shed and are gone, however, re-exposure to pinworm eggs can lead to a re-infestation numerous times. Pinworms are also uncommon in adults. Itchy bottoms are not always pinworms. The symptom can represent many other issues.

Pinworm: They can go away. However, one usually takes OTC or prescription medication & repeats in 2 to 2 weeks. Usually the whole household needs to get treated or you can get re-infected. Deep cleaning is needed to prevent re-infection.Pinworm eggs can survive on contaminated surfaces up to 3 weeks.
