Folliculitis: Folliculitis is inflammation of the superficial or deep portion of the hair follicle. Folliculitis may be infectious or noninfectious. The most common pathogen in infectious folliculitis is Staphylococcus aureus. The management of folliculitis varies based upon the etiology. Mild S. aureus folliculitis may resolve without medical treatment. Topical mupirocin, warm compress can be used initially.
