A member asked:

Is there a harm if i stop my birth control for a month? my period is 5 days late and i'm not sure if i should cont taking it.took a preg test negative

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Define harm: The pill tricks your body into believing you are pregnant so it won't ovulate. If you skip a month, and use a backup plan to see if you are really pregnant, it won't harm anything. Some suggest you continue to use a backup BC for at least a month after you start back to make sure your body is back. You might inform your doc of your plans and review any other options.
