Dates are estimates: Count pregnancies from the start of the last menstrual period. Thus, the pregnancy started Dec. 8. Count the number of weeks since Dec. 8 to estimate "how far along". Ovulation is about 2 weeks before the expected date of the missed period, so a woman has to guess when her missed period would have started, and then just go back 2 weeks from that guess. Implantation: about 10 days after ovulation.
