If it hurts for 4: days and defecation or flatulence (releasing gas) does not help, then it would be best to see a healthcare provider to figure out what the problem is. Many possibilities: A review of your medical history, current medications (including OTC and vitamins), and an examination may be the best way to determine the cause. One thing to try is to see if antacids relieve the discomfort. If 2 tablespoons of liquid antacid helps (myalanta, maalox, etc.), then a week of omeprazole (Prilosec OTC) 2 x 20 mg tablets at bedtime may help. See your doctor if this continues.
