Brownish or darker: blood generally means that it is old(er) blood -- in your case meaning it may have stayed in your uterus a day or two longer than it should. I don't know what the reason was, but darker blood means old(er) blood. If this continues and you have discharge afterwards, cramping, vaginal itching then go get yourself tested for vaginal infection. Thanks for trusting in HealthTap.

Old blood: Brown blood is blood that is coming out so slowly that it is oxidizing. Fast bleeding is red. Very slow bleeding can look brown. I wouldn't consider it a sign of a problem.
