A member asked:

I used a hair dye that apparently has ppd in it...and i keep seeing online things about ppd and tuberculosis? does this mean i'm going to get tb?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

PPD vs. PPD: PPD in hair dye is Paraphenylenediamine, a chemical which may cause scalp allergy. PPD test for Tb is "purified protein derivative", the stuff in the shot they put under your skin to see if it makes a lump if you've been exposed to Tb. It is a safe and effective test.
