Brown discharge: Was period normal? Check HCG, could be implantation bleeding ,miscarriage, ectopic , variation in period which does occur , endometriosis or infection. Would also check TSH, may need sonogram . follow up with doc

PH: Vaginal pH is 4-4.5 and menstrual blood has a pH of 7.4 which can lead to bacterial overgrowth. Bacterial vaginosis can present with a discharge that has an unpleasant odor. If the vaginal pH is 5 or higher, bacterial vaginosis is likely.
