A member asked:

Do i need to worry if a gnat or small flying inspect flew into my cooking soup or would the heat kill all bacteria?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Need a full boil: When cooking soup, one should bring the pot to a full boil to thoroughly cook any visible and invisible bugs. Bugs are in all plants, and we usually are only scared by the ones we see. There are many there that are too small to be seen. Cooked bugs just add more protein and other nutrients to foods that otherwise would be purely vegan. (Meat can have "bugs", but we call them different names.)
