Previous partner?: You had one previous partner before your current partner according to your note --- so one would surmise that he is the source of your chlamydia infection since your current partner tested negative.

Quite common: This happens a lot. Your partner was infected but his immune system cleared it before testing. Or he took an antibiotic (maybe for something else) and it cured him before testing. You had it from distant past partner and current partner was lucky and didn't catch it. The tests miss some infections. Or he just wasn't telling the truth. Most important: he needs treatment even w/ negative test.
