Orthostatic hypoten: Lightheadedness upon standing, after being recumbent for some time, is usually due to a fall in blood pressure and is called Orthostatic Hypotension. This can occur in otherwise normal individuals and normally lasts only a few seconds. But if it occurs frequently, is prolonged or leads to fainting you need to see a physician to diagnose the cause.
