Dog allergy: The treatment of pet dander allergy includes: 1. Avoidance--keep dog out of bedroom and preferably out of house; wash dog at least weekly, use hepa air cleaners in house. 2. Medication: daily use of an antihistamine (zyrtec, claritin, allegra, clarinex, xyzal) may decrease some symptoms. Topical nasal steroids are most effective (qnasl, flonase, etc). 3. Allergy injections: best longterm option.
