Helpful tip: One thing I have many of my patients due to not specifically clear their mind but put a routine thing in there. The sentence I use is "no ifs, ands, or buts." when you turn off your lights to sleep, you turn on your sentence. It helps block or have you focus on new/unwanted thoughts occurring that prevent sleep. You can use the same thing if you do wake up at night.
