Bisferiens pulse : as you r referring to HCM I suspect you mean bisferiens pulse. It is not really a double beat -- but speaks to the physiology of HCM and how the pulse radiates to carotid. A cardiac MRI would seal the diagnosis of HCM and then you ought to see a cardiologist for treatment, management, risk stratification and family counseling.

Two peaks/heart beat: instead of just one, aka pulsus bisferiens: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulsus_bisferiens. HCM, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, is only one possible basis via subaortic stenosis. Detection is normally by palpation (feel) which requires practice & comparison with a normal pulse in a similar location to appreciate. An easily felt double-pulse in carotid is more likely due to a premature beat.
