Compulsive acts: The "need" to sniff rubbing alcohol & hand sanitizer is a compulsive behavior that needs to be replaced by some other safer behavior. Firstly, you need to inform your treating OB MD of this practice. Secondly, this can harm the fetus, just like sniffing glue. Finally, seek a professional counselor's advice about replacing this behavior with something else.

I am not sure: this is a good "need" or habit to have, considering both rubbing alcohol and hand sanitizers have ethyl alcohol in common. There are odd things that a woman crave in her second and third trimesters, but inhaling alcoholic fumes is not healthy for the baby and for yourself. Please do not do that if you can control it.
