Dr. John Chiu answered

Probably not: Most cases of chronic hives are of unknown cause although about 30-40% are considered of autoimmune origin. Consider taking Allegra (fexofenadine) up to 4 x daily and see if it helps. If not consult a doctor. Xolair has been very effective for most cases of hives with some people enjoying long remission- but still not a cure.

Agree with Dr Chiu: There are options. Would suggest seeing an Allergist now. Increasing Allegra (fexofenadine) is an option, but there are others and it is time to have some basic labs checked to rule out some causes of chronic hives (even if most cases are never "solved").
