Can deep brain stimulation if placed right hypothetically be used to induce sleep since it can be used to induce pain relief among other things?

Probably not: Studies suggest the use of DBS will not induce true sleep stages other than its ability to relax the patient due to decreased pain and other neuro symptoms which in itself can help promote sleep.
