Have it checked: should have it looked at by a medical provider. a large painful swollwn area may indicate a cellilitis or early abscess. Is it warm?draining?red? all signs of an absecess that may need to be drained. also may be due to bacyeria on the skin such as Staph ( including MRSA) or Strep. MRSA tends to be more aggressive and may result in multiple abscesses requiring treatment with antibiotics.
