Having a light breakfast will prevent low blood sugar, but is too short a time for that food to get down to the surgery site and cause your surgeon problems with contamination.

However, some anasthesiologists request that you be npo after midnight. I would suggest that you speak to the assigned anasthesiologist for specifics.
