Hard to say!: Are you taking any new over-the-counter meds or supplements? Some types (but not all) of non-sedating antihistamines can cause severe menstrual discomfort. If you are taking one type, try one of the others. Some can use one kind but not others, without problems. No one can predict who will not be able to tolerate one or the other. Some other meds or supplements may do this too. See doc if recurs.

It sounds like: you have experienced an 'AN-OVULATORY cycle where the endometrium builds up until you finally have a BREAKTHROUGH bleed! This is pretty common at age 19 as your "Regular" schedule is developed...if this continues a few months of cycling with hormones (BC Pills) may help! Speak with your GYN! Hope this helps! DR Z
