How dp graves dease affect the eyes?

In many ways: The eye lids can be slow to move or cause dry eyes with tearing, eventually it may even affect the six cardinal muscles behind the eye. All this can be helped with a thorough look under the slit lamp in the doctors office.

Variety of ways: Graves disease can cause bulging of the eyes, which can lead to dry eye and damage to the ocular surface. The eye muscles can become inflamed leading to double vision. And, in the worst cases, the bulging and inflammation can compress the optic nerve leading to vision loss. Controlling the thyroid hormone levels does not always correlate with eye symptoms. Need to see an eye doc to monitor.
