Depends: It could be an irregular heart beat, such as atrial fibrillation. If so you need to get to a doctor of emergency room urgently. Alternatively, you could be anemic, low blood counts, and that could do it. If your thyroid is too active, that will cause a rapid heart beat also. Please get to your doctor to have this checked out.

Tachycardia: Fast heart rate can be due to multiple conditions. It is definitely not normal and may mean anything from abnormal heart rhythm to hyper acting thyroid. You should consult your doctor and if you are not feeling weak or not feeling well you should go to the er.

Family practice : If you are anemic you may have a faster hr to get more oxygen to your body. Infection or fever will elevate tour hr. Other heart conditions can elevate hr. Check with your dr.
