Hormonal imbalance: Hi MarissaB Likely a glitch in your usual cycle. Menstrual blood includes the uterine lining that requires estrogen to develop. The bleeding requires progesterone, which is released by cycles in two other hormones (FSH and LH). So a balance of all 4 is required for your usual period. However, best to check with a gyn practitoner.
