Ovulation: The most common reason for light bleeding at mid-cycle is the hormonal swings associated with ovulation. Other causes can be contraceptives and other medications, infections, abnormal cervical cells, polyps, and diseases like PCOS, insulin resistance/diabetes, thyroid disease, adrenal disorders or pituitary problems but these will usually also cause bleeding at other times. Hope this helps.
