I was diagnosed with gastroenteritis; stomach cramps have improved, i now feel abdominal tenderness/slight discomfort when i urinate. is this common?

Bladder infection?: Discomfort on urinating suggests a bladder infection(cystitis). This would be unrelated to a gastroenteritis. If the abdominal tenderness is in the suprapubic area, where the bladder is located, it would go along with a cystitis. See your physician if persists.
