An insurance code: Insurance companies requires a code to be attached to each patient visit many of which sound strange (even to us docs). If a pregnancy is complicated by almost any other problem then v23.89 is used which codes the pregnancy as “high risk” which may or may not reflect the an elevated risk to mom or baby. “Social problems” could mean almost anything. You can ask your doctor why that code was used
