Increase fiber: Dried beans (limas, navy, chickpeas, cannellini and many others) are a very efficient way to improve a child's stool habits. Cook soft and then use in salads. Baked beans laced with molasses and brown sugar are another palatable way to get fiber into your child's diet - measure 1/2 cup and put in a "special bowl" with a small spoon. Bulk water absorbent laxatives work but are not as appealing.
