No: A dark brown appearance of menstrual blood at the beginning or end of bleeding is normal. This is due to the blood being slower in getting from your uterus to the end of your vagina. When your flow is minimal, the blood often has time to start breaking down as it's expelled from your body, giving it that dark brown color. It is not cause for concern.
