Patience: Conjunctivitis is caused by three things - germs, viruses, and allergies. Itching is usually more associated with allergies. Try flushing your eyes with saline eye drops several times a day and take an oral antihistamine such as Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) zyrtec, or clariten. Ask your pharmacist for an over the counter eye drop suggestion but if symptoms are not improved after a few days consider seeing your MD

You certainly may be: starting with conjunctivitis, which could be caused by a virus, bacteria, allergy or an irritation.Rinse your eyes with warm water(if you wear contact lenses, remove them first),and use some saline drops for temporary relief. Then see your doctor(or call them)once they're open and they will assess the cause and give you the proper treatment.Wash your hands well and don't share towels/washclothes.
