Last night around 8:30 p.m. i started having a nagging pain in the middle of my back toward my right side and under right rib cage. what is this?

Not sure: There are many potential causes of this type of pain, but one of them is gallbladder disease. If it doesn't go away, or recurs regularly, you need to see your doctor to start the workup for it.
