A member asked:

I believe i could be having heart palpitations...they happen quite frequency...is this something of concern?

Many Causes: Palpitations, or the sensation of your heart racing or skipping beats are one of the most common symptoms I am asked to evaluate as a cardiologist. Fortunately, most turn out to be benign. Appropriate first steps in a work up include a thorough history and physical exam, an EKG, blood work including thyroid panel and possibly Lyme titre if you are at risk, echocardiogram, and ambulatory monitor.
