A member asked:

Does using a menstrual cup carry any risk of an air embolism? this is my first time using it and i feel like my vagina is stretched and battered.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No risk: The cup is in the vagina and not connected to the blood stream which is where an air embolism needs to be connected to to cause a problem. It sounds like you have an friend or acquaintance who had this problem - almost certainly not from a menstrual cup.
