Diet: Some theorize that a diet high in lysine (dairy, fish, legumes, meat, brewer’s yeast, wheat germ) and low in arginine, has an antiviral benefit. Arginine is needed by the herpes virus to copy itself; Amino Acid lysine vies with arginine for intestinal absorption. Chocolate, peanuts and almonds are high in arginine and should be avoided. There is no cure for hsv; many medicines are available.
