"Ear Plunger": Greetings. Yes, using your hand to force air in and out of the outer ear canal should be avoided. I would recommend gum chewing or yawning to equalize your middle ear pressure. You could try using an intranasal steroid spray like Flonase or Nasacort (triamcinolone) that are OTC. "Ear Plungering" may lead to such force that an ear drum perforation could occur. If these suggested don't help, see your ENT doctor.
