Don't know: We do not know what causes this condition. We do know most people get better with time and no other treatment. If the calcium citrate works for you and you have no side effects from it, I would continue it. Sorry I could not provider a better answer. This is a condition we do not understand very well. In June my calcium level was 9.7. In July the calcium level was 10.7. I have been taking Calcium Citrate 600 mg of calcium, 300 mg of magnesium, 15 mg of zinc, i mg copper, and 5 mg Manganese. Is this the probable cause of of high calcium. Thanks?
