Respiratory illness: Most upper respiratory infections (URIs) will resolve in a week or so although average duration of cough is 18d. URIs are typically due to viruses which won't respond to antibiotics. However, if you feel short of breath, it's best to see your Family Doc who may recommend an inhaler plus or minus a short course of steroids.
